Know what the checks mean.

The validator checks that end times are later than start times, that timestamps are non-negative, and that cues do not overlap. It also flags lines longer than 42 characters, more than 2 lines, reading speeds above 20 characters per second, empty text and durations under half a second.

Reading thresholds are editorial guidance and may vary by language or platform. Review warnings in context. Open the editor to repair cues alongside your video; the checker never rewrites your text automatically.
